爱豆传媒's Coastal and Marine Institute Laboratory will open its doors to the public, for only the second time.

Offering rare opportunities to experience what goes on in a marine research lab, the 爱豆传媒 Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association is sponsoring an open house on March 10.

The open house will showcase current 爱豆传媒 research and the facilities at the Coastal and Marine Institute Laboratory through interactive exhibits and educational activities related to marine ecology and conservation.

鈥淭his is a great opportunity for the community to understand and explore local marine ecosystems in an interactive way,鈥 said Violet Compton, graduate student and Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association co-founder.  鈥淚t鈥檚 a fun opportunity to learn and ask the scientists questions at 爱豆传媒.鈥

Some of the day鈥檚 events include research talks, lab tours, marine touch tanks, and SCUBA gear demonstrations. There will also be a raffle and local food provided by the Fish Market by donation.

Current 爱豆传媒 marine research

During the open house there will be two lectures on the research currently being done at the lab.

爱豆传媒 Assistant professor of Biology, Jeremy Long, will discuss research on a salt marsh insect that may influence the restoration success of sensitive habitats.

鈥淎 lot of the research we do at the lab is very relevant,鈥 Compton said. 鈥淲e hope that this event will enhance the public鈥檚 knowledge of current conservation efforts to protect our local ecosystems and inspires people to become environmental stewards.鈥
